400 Series tilt-wash double-hung full-frame windows use check rail dust pads in the unit frame. Pads are located where the upper and lower window sash meet, on either side of the Check rail weatherstrip. There are two (2) pads per unit. Check Rail Dust Pad
Check rail dust pad is the same size for all units and is universally handed.
- Safety Glasses
- Check Rail Dust Pad
- Denatured Alcohol
- Soft, Dry Cloth
The check rail dust pad comes with a pre-applied adhesive backing for securing it to the frame of the unit. Make sure that the sash remains supported at all times.
Tilt in both upper and lower window sash as you would for cleaning using the window sash replacement guide (0005177)
Remove original dust pads from the frame of the unit
Clean the area with denatured alcohol and a soft, dry cloth to remove any dirt or remaining adhesive
Remove paper from the back of the new dust pads and apply to the frame of the unit in the same location as the original dust pads. The dust pads come with pre-applied adhesive, no additional adhesive is necessary
5. Tilt sash up and lock
400 Series tilt-wash insert windows use similar check rail dust pads that can be ordered through the Andersen WindowCare® Solution Center or a local Andersen retailer.
